Presidents Message

Welcome to Gympie Amateur Athletics for the 2016/17 season.

We aim to develop children of all abilities by promoting positive attitudes and a healthy lifestyle through family and community involvement in athletic activities. We help all athletes to be the best that they can be and encourage them to continually measure their success against their own personal best. This sport teaches the foundation skills for many other sports.

This season will see many changes to the program.  Tiny tots to U7 will do the FAST program for the first 8 weeks. This program will teach fundamental movement patterns through fun activities.

As our club continues to grow, we are thankful for the continued support of local businesses, the community and government for the sponsorship and grants we received throughout 2015.

As our club is run by volunteers, YOUR participation is very important to assist in keeping the club running smoothly. We on the committee do our best, but we need the support of parents and supporters wherever possible. If you can assist in any way please don’t hesitate to do so, especially in the areas of canteen, starters, group leaders, time keepers and set-up/pack-up.

I encourage you to regularly check our website www.gympieathletics.com and our Facebook page www.facebook.com/gympielittleathletics for updates and information.

Most importantly, I wish all of our athletes a fantastic season. I hope that you all enjoy competing, staying fit, making new friendships and helping each other to be the best you can be.

Patron's Message

BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE

Athletics is a great individual and social sport that teaches fundamental skills. Competition in our sport is not “to win”, it’s to be your absolute best and improve your personal bests.

Even though athletics is an individual sport, there is a team aspect of competing as a team, encouraging all of the athletes. Fun, family, and fitness are vital elements of athletics, but in order for our club to be successful cooperation from parents is needed to keep our club running.

It is an honour to be the Club’s patron and I am delighted to renew my formal association with the Gympie Athletics Club.
